Open Days & Awards


The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) Open Day and award programs run by the Australian Defence Force (ADF), provide a great introduction and pathway to joining the Navy, Army or Air Force.

ADFA OPEN DAY - typically held in August of each year

ADFA (a partnership between the Department of Defence and UNSW Canberra) provides an opportunity to undertake the military and leadership training required to join the ADF, while also completing university study.

The ADFA Open Day is an ideal opportunity to find out more about a career in the Defence Force and courses available at the university. ADFA is located in Northcott Drive, Canberra and admission to the open day is free.

Activities:

·         Information sessions on undergraduate degrees available, Defence Force Recruiting and how to become a pilot

·         Tours of the military buildings, training facilities, academy library, cadet accommodation and sports centre

·         A range of military activities and displays throughout the day.

ADFA EDUCATION AWARD

The ADFA Education Award is presented annually to Year 12 students in recognition of leadership potential, academic and sporting achievements demonstrated during Year 11:

·         For people who have submitted an application to the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA)

·         Applications open to current Year 11 students (applications open in May each year and close in February the following year)

·         The award includes a laptop computer for you and a plaque for your school.

 

There is no obligation to accept an offer to attend ADFA if you are an award winner.

DEFENCE TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Defence Technical Scholarship (DTS) is a fantastic opportunity for Year 11 and 12 students intending to pursue an ADF General Entry Technical Trade career, after completing Year 12. The DTS rewards technically-savvy students for staying on at school and enrolling in specific subjects.

·         Year 11 recipients will receive $2000 and be invited to a five day Defence Experience Tour

·         Year 12 recipients will receive $3000.
